Paul Jaeger ~ Custom Rifle ~ .300 Savage
Description:
Paul Jaeger was born in NYC in 1901 to German immigrants who later returned to Suhl Germany. Paul completed his schooling in Germany and moved back to the United States in 1927. He worked as a Gunsmith in Philadelphia PA where he attracted a good following. He rented a shop in Jenkintown PA and during WWII he converted his shop to a machine shop to aid in war production. After the war he sold sporting goods and guns. He then switched to manufacturing hunting rifles from surplus military components. He designed his own adjustable triggers and scope mounts. He remained in charge of his company until he was almost 80 years old. This beautiful gun is stamped on the barrel "Paul Jaeger - Jenkintown PA". Wood is solid and in very good condition showing only a few light marks with some darkening on butt from age. Original blue is also very good with a couple light scuffs and areas of blue loss from handling. Bore is excellent. This is a Controlled Round Feed action. Gun has a Monte Carlo cheekpiece and a checkered butt plate and pistol grip cap. This is a beautiful gun that has been well maintained with a 4 digit serial number. What a story and what craftsmanship! .300 Savage
