Winchester pre-64 Model 70 .30-06 custom by Jim Baiar and Tom Burgess. Completed in 1991 and consigned by the original owner, serial 434412 has a 20.5-inch Half Moon custom barrel (.590-inch muzzle diameter, scalloped/fluted front sight base with brass-beaded blade, 1/10 twist, fitted by Burgess). Features include a AAA-grade claro walnut full stock (stamped "J. Baiar" in the channel) with strong crossing grain, ebony forend tip, 24 lines-per-inch borderless wrap checkering surrounding diamond islands, soft Monte Carlo comb, scalloped cheek rest with a rolling shadow line, checkered steel grip cap, checkered steel butt plate with widow's peak, sling swivel studs and a gloss finish. Additional details include hex screws, XS aperture sight and Weaver-style bases. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 7.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is pristine. Mechanics are solid. Metal finish is approximately 97 percent with but trace indications of being afield. Wood is at least 95 percent with a scattering of minor impressions and scratches. The price is firm and layaway is available. Trades for fine sporting rifles (particularly customs, rimfires and dangerous game calibers) and handguns will be respectfully considered. $3,750 plus shipping.
