Cogswell & Harrison "The Cosmos" Boxlock Shot and Ball Gun 12 Gauge

Description:
This is a very nice, clean engraved Coswell&Harrison boxlock ball and shot gun with ejectors and assist opening.  It has 27 1/2 inch barrels that are bright and have rifled chokes and comes with a case and assessors. It is very fine, retaining 90% original black finish with much of the loss on the trigger guard, some traces if case colors in the protected areas on the action with the balance in a fine grey and a few dings and scratches.  The freshened wood has a few minor scratches, slight chip at the toe, and sharp checkering.  Mechanically excellent.  The case is very good with transit wear. Manufactured in 1913 the gun was built with "Arcus" steel barrels featuring a beaded blade front sight, three folding leaf sights on a sunken top rib, front sling loop, "COGSWELL & HARRISON Ltd THE 'COSMOS' 141 NEW BOND ST" and "220 STRAND LONDON & 26 AVENUE DE L'OPREA PARIS FABRIQUE A LONDRES" signed on the left and right tubes respectively, Period London proofs for 1 1/8 oz (now 2 3/4 inch) chambers with C & H  pattened ejectors. The barrels are rifled at the muzzle for use with shot and ball munitions. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened assisted opening boxlock action with Greener Crossbolt and features a C & H Patented single trigger and tang mounted automatic safety. the gun is fitted with beautifully figured wood. The case includes snap caps, and cleaning tools and oil bottle.  LOP 14 3/16 inches and weight 7 pounds.
