Cased J Beattie & Co Double Rifle .450 BPE
J. Beattie & Co. Double Rifle; Serial No.: 17921; Caliber: .450 BPE; 28” Barrels with good bores.  This cased rifle is a time capsule.

The barrels measure 28” long. They have Alex Henry rifling and good to very good bores. The table has Crown over GP (Gunmakers’ Company proof marks) and V under a Crown (visual proof). The barrels are marked: J. BEATTIE & Co -and- 104 QUEEN VICTORIA ST, LONDON. The rear sight is a one-standing, two-leaf express sight. The barrels are on face and tight with the action.

The rounded action has a Jones underlever that holds in place. The firing pins are spring-loaded. The action has an elegant border engraving with the locks engraved J. BEATTIE & Co. The action has the majority of its original case-colored finish.

The stocks are in very good condition. The checkering on the forearm has some minor depressions, and the checkering on the buttstock is sharp. The stocks have a horn grip cap and butt plate. The length of pull measures approximately 14-1/2” from the forward trigger.

The case is in good overall condition. The case has a tray that lifts out for cartridges. There is a whole host of accessories included: ivory-handled brush, ebony-handled nipple wrench, brass and copper funnel (stamped .500), spare firing pins in a leather pouch, mainspring vice, cleaning rods and tips, etc.
