JOSEPH HAMBRUSCH - HAND DETACHABLE SIDELOCK DOUBLE RIFLE - ENGRAVED WITH GOLD ANIMALS
Description: This is an exceptional bespoke Austrian made rifle. Joseph Hambrush has been making custom guns in Ferlach, Austria since 1752 representing 11 generations of craftsmen. This particular double rifle was made in 1970. The remarkable features begin at the locks. Back action, hand detachable locks with intercepting safety sears. Gold plated internal parts. Set front trigger. Tight scroll engraving with a gold elephant cameo on the right lock and a lion on the left. The action is of the strongest design. Double underbite with two Kerstan locks. A total of 4 locking points. The wood is well figured and pleasing to the eye with generous mineral streaking. Stock inletting at the locks plates are at the highest level of craftsmanship. The forend is a true three piece design. Gold stock oval with prior owner's name. Pachmayr Old English Recoil Pad. The LOP is 14 3/4". The scope is a Hensoldt Wetzler Diatal - D - 2x 16 / 4 x 32 with crystal clear optics. One horizontal reticle with a tapered post vertical reticle. Hand detachable with a claw mounting system. The rear sight ramp has two flip up sights (not marked for distance). Other notable features include 26" barrels that were recently regulated by well known double rifle maker, Ken Owen. The test targets are shown and at 60 yards with the sights the grouping was less than 2". Utilizing the scope indicated a grouping of about 2 1/2". The grouping was similar with Weatherby Factory Ammo or Ken's loaded ammo. Two full boxes of ammo loaded by Ken are provided. This ammo used Factory brass. Factory brass and loaded cartridges are available from Waetherby and were recently on sale! The custom loaded cartridges used; 81 Grns of R-22, CCI Mag Primer and a 250 Gr Hornady Interlock Primer. Additional 8 Factory loaded cartridges are provided also with the 250 Grn interlock bullet. Other reloading components are included as shown with a die set as well. The 340 Weatherby Magnum offers some exceptional ballistics and has a quite passionate following. The weight of the gun is 9 LBS 13 1/8 oz without the scope and 10 LBS 14 OZ with the scope. When testing, Ken remarked that the recoil was quite comfortable due to the weight of the gun. The scope placement was correct as well for safe shooting. This double rifle appears to have had only the slightest of use with no appreciable wear. The gun will be shipped in a suitable protective case. Ammo will be shipped separately for safety. Packing, shipping and insurance will be $250. C&R eligible. Please call to discuss this rifle. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: .340 Weatherby Magnum |
