LOA 42 1/2" ... double adjustable triggers ... automatic tang mounted safety ... selective ejectors The arms works of Johann Peterlongo began operations in 1857 and continued to produce fine firearms throughout both world wars into the 1970's. This case hardened receiver is completely covered in deep relief Germanic style scroll highlighting rutting bucks in a wooded scene on the right side and a relief engraved hunting dog facing down a gold inlaid boar on the left. Scroll work continues on the forearm hardware, break lever, upper tang, lower tang and trigger guard. The safety selector has a checkerboard engraving pattern for a non slip surface even while wearing gloves. Double triggers are individually adjustable. A scroll enhanced matte finished solid rib sports a ramp and blade style front sight. The rear sight is fixed on a matte finish quarter rib. Sling swivel mount on the lower barrel. Equipped with a claw mount scope marked "NICKEL-ZIELFERNROHRF-MARBURG/L/SUPRAYLT-2 1/2 X 52 - E/S D.P.(which is a 2 1/2 x post and crosshair reticle). The scope is excellent with some edge wear on the object end with bright and clear optics and see thru lens caps. Exceptionally fine Circassian walnut with swirling chocolate colored grain is used for this magnificent stock. The cheekpiece features a double shadowline and the pistol grip has a horn cap. The three piece forearm has near total coverage of multi-point checkering and perfectly engraved screws. This quality inletting and engraving is normally found only in guns costing $20,000 or more. Overall condition is excellent with very few scattered handling marks, crisp checkering and engraving. Some minor high edge wear. Lower barrel shows some frosting on the left side.
