Alfred Lancaster 577 BPE Hammer Double Rifle
Description: An Alfred Lancaster 577 (2 3/4") BPE hammer double made circa 1886-1892 (per Brown Vol.!) Rifle is in very good condition and a great and accurate shooter. Probably re-blacked steel barrels are 26" with very good bright bores with a few blemishes in the left barrel throat. Enfield style rifling. It weighs 10 1/2lbs. LOP is 14 3/8 to a steel butt. Very accurate (see pic). Butt stock has been replaced probably in India but with a much better job than is usually found and decently checkered. Action is tight and on face and has about 70% coverage engraving. Back action locks have rebounding hammers and crisp engraving. Forearm has the Harvey lever and is original with probably refreshed checkering. Reloading dies and brass would add $140 to the selling price. I have a few more pix for prospective buyers.I will cover the shipping to contiguous states.
