BRADDELL & Sons Belfast
Description: This Braddell & Sons double rifle is chambered in 360 x 2 1/4 and shoots a 242 grain lead bullet. It has 7 groove Alex Henry style rifling, and may have been made by that great maker, although it appears to be more in the style of Rodda & Co. The bores are in excellent condition, with a 1 in 32 R H twist. The locks are marked J. Stanton on the inside, and numbered 1371 (R) and 1372 (L). The serial number on the 27" barrels is 3161. The rifle weighs 7 lb. 4 oz. empty and has black powder proofs only. I would guess it was made between 1880 and 1890, however I can't find much information on Braddell & Sons Belfast in any of my books. The overall condition is very fine, with evidence of an old repair to the top tang and the trigger guard (visible in the photos). I have about 50 pieces of new brass and a box or two of lead bullets which go with the rifle. Please call me, Peter Morgan 406 842 7655 for more info. Thank you. SOLD Antique: Yes |
