Nicely figured wood with multi-point checkering patterns and a checkered buttplate, vacant silver shield. Oak and leather maker's case with original label contains a brass bullet mold, powder measure, a cartridge pouch with empty cases, a 5 round box of 270 grain Kynoch .450 BPE, an oil bottle, and various tools. The case lid is marked with "CAPT C. J. ANSTRUTHER-THOMSON/17TH LANCERS" who was decorated fighting the Zulus at Ulundi.
