German O/U double rifle chambered in 7X65R
Description: German O/U double rifle chambered in 7X65R. First off, this gun has lots of dry oil on it. I have cleaned off a couple of spots to show how very nice the gun is under the crud. When properly cleaned, this will be very good. The barrels are 25" long and the bores are very good bright and shiny. The gun is marked F W Kessler Suhl and on the blank in the rib O. Bergman Nachf. Chemnitz. The barrels have claw mounts for a scope that has been lost to time. There are double locking lugs and a greener style cross bolt. There is more information as to regulation, date of manufacture under the top portion of wood on the barrels, BUT, the gun is totally un-molested and I will not be the one to mess up one screw. The scalloped box lock receiver has very well executed game scenes that are distinctly German but much more shallow than "heavy" German engraving. The rest of the receiver is very nice, almost English looking scrolls. Both triggers are set triggers, there are ebony points at the flats and one ebony inlay at the schnabel on the forend. There was something at the round cap on the pistol grip but it is now missing. The trigger guard is horn. The LOP is 14 1/2" over a checkered horn butt plate. The wood is excellent with a nice deep rich tone that happens only with time. This weighs 8 pounds 5 ounces. This gun came from the wall of a WWII Battle of the Bulge officer that ended up as a 2 star General. The gun was oiled on a regular basis. There has never been any rust or mis-handling. Shipping is $25.00; I am an FFL dealer, no local pick-ups. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
