Imman Meffert Hubertus Dural Drilling Woton Model
Description: Imman Meffert Hubertus Dural Drilling Woton model 1941 Manufacturer: Imman Meffert Model: Hubertus Dural Drilling Woton Caliber: 16ga Rifle: 8x57JR Barrel: 25.75" Bore Condition: Excellent LOP 14" WEIGHT 6lb 10 oz PRICE REDUCED Maybe the highest condition drilling I have owned. Shoots to sights and has Krieghoff Kickspanner cocking device. German Imman Meffert Hubertus Dural Drilling combination shotgun in 16ga x 16ga x8x57JR. Serial number- 66456. This drilling is in great condition. In 1931 Meffert developed an extremely light shotgun for its time by "skeletonizing" the steel parts where ever it was possible to do so, they then developed a receiver with "Dural", a higher grade and tougher aluminum. This shotgun created by Meffert was so popular in the 1930s that the famous firearms company did not begin war production until 1941. This gun is dated May 1941 so is one the last before WWII. The history of the Imman Meffert shotguns begins in the 1800s but the story of the company's end and last Meffert son of the family gun-maker is the most interesting. Gerhard Meffert became his father's partner in the Meffert company but when war broke out in Europe Gerhard served in the German Wehrmacht (Army). However, he was captured by American soldiers in Austria in 1945. He was released shortly after but the Soviets controlled the territory he called home. He was immediately arrested and sent to a number of prisoner labor camps. After 5 long years, he was released and he even attempted to restart the family company. However, it was quickly taken over by the German Communists and was harassed by the Stasi (German Secret Police). Deciding he couldn't take it anymore Gerhard Meffert and his wife escaped to West Berlin. PRICE REDUCED! Own a beautiful drilling shotgun and a piece of history! SOLD |
