J.J.REEB DRILLING. Serial # 8066.Cal.16x16 over 8x72Rmm Sauer I believe. The markings on the barrel are 8,7mm and the cartridge length is 72. I would appreciate your input as to whether I'm correct on this cartridge. The rifle is built with 28-5/16" barrels that have a slightly raised rib which is set up for claw mounts. Rib is inscribed "J.J. REEB HOPBUCHEN MACHER BONN". Breech end of brls with small ring of evgraving. Large horn opener and integral cocking lever sits atop the walnut forend which is point pattern checkering. Forend with border and lightly engraved steel tip. Rifle barrel with sling mount in bottom. Round body casehardened recover is nicely scroll engraved in about 50% coverage. Top tang with bow tie safety toggle and from trigger guard mounted barrel selector lever. Large ornate horn trigger guard is nicely shaped and fashioned in scroll toward rear. Gun made with 2 triggers, extractors, and bow tie safety as noted above. Straight grip (professional refinish) walnut buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist, has cheek piece on left side, sling mount on the toe, and terminates with its checkerboard engraves full steel butplate which is casehardened.
