Pre-war German Cape gun, 16ga shotgun over a 7.8x57 bore rifle O/U
This is a WWII bring back from a 3rd ID forward observer.
Unmolested German Cape gun. Made by L. Frauenstorfer of Mannheim, he was known to acquire guns made by Merkel and place his name on them. This gun looks like a Merkel. LOP 14.125 Drop comb 1.5 Drop at heal 2.625 shotgun bore is choked full, rifle bore is stamped 7.8x57 both bright. Finished in August of 1929. Action still has case color, with Greener cross bolt and greener side safety, cocking indicators, straight screws, overall gun has nice engraving with very nice relief engraving on sides, Pheasant one side and a deer on the other. The 27.75 barrels have 95% nice original blue, twist on scope mount and a flip up sight in the rib. very nice horn trigger guard, and a basket weave checkered butt plate. Very nice original finished wood, no cracks, or repairs. Finish has bunched up in some spots from age and there is some minor dents in forearm left side, see photos..
