Franz Sodia built side plate drilling with extensive engraving
Description:
23.5" barrels, 16x16 over 8X57R. Shotgun barrels are choked full and full. Believe this gun was finished in 1940 and is marked as having been sold by Wilke-Braun of Stuttgart. The gun is marked as having been built by Franz Sodia. SN is 608. LOP is 14.25, DAC is 1.75" and DAH is 3". Bluing is very good, and the gun's receiver has a French gray finish. The wood has some damage on the rear of the butt stock, and it looks like something rubbed against it removing some wood. There are also scuff marks and even some paint scuffs. It is our opinion that most of the wood's issues could be cleaned up by a good stock maker. Bores are all excellent. Engraving speaks for itself. Side lever is for selecting the rifle barrel, and also activates the flip up rear sight. The front trigger is a set trigger. Over-all a very nice box-lock drilling with modern dimensions.
