Offered for sale is a beautiful and highly unusual Franz Sodia high art combination gun, built in 1937 in Ferlach, Austria—one of Europe’s most respected gunmaking centers. This elegant hammer gun is chambered in the desirable and hard-to-find combination of
.22 Savage High Power and 20 Gauge, making it both a collector’s piece and a highly practical sporting arm.
Built on a refined
narrow round action receiver, this gun features
deep relief game scene engraving of exceptional quality, showcasing the artistry associated with pre-war Ferlach craftsmanship. The action is fitted with
rebounding hammers,
back action locks, and a rare
top tang safety, an uncommon and desirable feature on hammer guns.
The gun locks up tight with a robust
double underbite and Greener-style third fastener, remaining tight on face with no loose ribs. Both bores are mirror bright.
