About Us: I have collected interesting firearms for about 60 years, and am a Benefactor/Life NRA member. I feel that it is now time to start selling a few things. All firearms transactions will be handled by a local Gun shop and will follow all firearms laws. All firearms purchased will be shipped by them to your F.F.L. I do my best to price my items fairly. If you think that my price is out of line, please make an offer. I don't have much room for negotiation, but I will work with you if I can. I do not have many items to sell. Please keep checking my items and I will try to add regularly to my listings. I hope to find good homes for these items that are special to me. Please read descriptions and terms, I will endeavor to be accurate.
The Three Barrel Gun Company Drilling, 12Ga.X 12 Ga. over .32-40 WCF
Description: The Three Barrel Gun Company (Later called Hollenbeck) Drilling Combination gun. From 1905 to 1915 this American company produced Side by Side Shotguns with a rifle barrel below. They were located in Wheeling, West Virginia. This one has SXS 12 Guage barrels over a .32-40 WCF barrel. This one is in very good shape considering its age. The wood and checkering are in very good condition with the original buttplate intact. The engraving on the receiver, barrel, and forearm metal is also in very good shape. When I got it I took it to my gunsmith, Justin Sip of J.Sip and sons Custom Guns, and he pronounced it safe to fire with mild loads. If you purchase this firearm, you should have your gunsmith inspect it before firing it. I bought a box of Federal 12 ga. "short" shells and the shotgun barrels performed very well. I then fired 5 rounds of .32-40 WCF in the rifle barrel and was pleasantly surprised that the sights were properly aligned. The rear sight has a unique ratchet adjustment for elevation. It has double triggers for the shotgun barrels and when you fire the rifle barrel, you must first cock it by pushing forward on the lever located just in front of the trigger guard, and then it is fired using the front trigger. I am told that the Three Barrel Gun Company (Hollenbeck) is the only American manufacturer of drillings. Most are of European origin. I think that it is cool to have a .32-40 WCF cartridge and not a cartridge with a mm designation. This is an early one probably made in 1905 to 1907. If you collect old Drillings or Combination guns this one would fit in perfectly. If you want a unique firearm to shoot occasionally, it will probably be a gun that none of your friends own, and you can have a great conversation about American Gun History. Buyer Pays Shipping and insurance costs. TERMS – PLEASE READ; PAYMENT - I can accept money orders, cashier’s checks, bank checks, or personal checks (pending verification of funds).
