1945 Vintage WW2 BSA-Shirley Enfield No.5 Mk.I Jungle Carbine in .303 British ** Non-Import MARKED**
Description: This is a very nice, non-import marked WW2 production British No.5 Mk.1 Jungle Carbine in .303 British manufactured by BSA-Shirley in 1945. This gun has all-matching serial numbers except for the magazine, and bolt which were most like replaced during a post war arsenal rebuild. As mentioned earlier, this Jungle Carbine is in very good condition overall, particularly for an issued and carried weapon of WW2. This No.5 Mk.1 still retains the vast majority of it's "stove black" anti-corrosion finish. As you can see from the pictures, the black finish shows some high-edge wear as well as numerous small handling marks and spots of finish loss/wear, but has a very consistent patina to it that is attractive. All of the factory markings are mostly legible on all of the metal parts, including the proof markings on the top of the barrel. The bore in this Enfield is in good condition overall, showing some light pitting/darkness in the grooves of the rifling but strong and bright lands throughout. We have no doubt that will still shoot point of aim and be just as accurate today as it was in 1945. The original stock set on this Enfield is really handsome and in great shape overall. All three pieces are free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage, and all of the original hardware is intact and in good condition, including the unique rubber and steel buttpad used only on the Jungle Carbines. All of the small factory inspection marks/cartouches are still visible and intact, and all three parts of the stock are a great match to each other in both color and patina. The action on this No.5 Mk.1 is smooth and precise, and locks up tight when in battery. All of the controls are in perfect working order on this Enfield, including the rear sight and receiver-mounted safety lever.
