Antique ENFIELD MARTINI-HENRY MKIV Single Shot .577/450 FALLING BLOCK Rifle 1887 Dated BRITISH Imperial Legacy Rifle
Description: Antique ENFIELD MARTINI-HENRY MKIV Single Shot .577/450 FALLING BLOCK Rifle 1887 Dated BRITISH Imperial Legacy Rifle Here we present an antique Enfield Martini-Henry Mk IV Single Shot Falling Block Military Rifle made circa 1887. These rifles had a production run between 1871 and 1889 with somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 produced. The first iteration of the rifle came about in 1871 and was adopted by the British Army to replace the Enfield Snider Breech Loading Rifles that were being phased out. The action is based on the patent by American and Boston native Henry O. Peabody, which was improved by Swiss inventor Friedrich von Martini. The new polygonal barrel rifling was the design of Scotsman Alexander Henry. This is where the rifle derives its name. Martini–Henry variants were used throughout the British Empire for 47 years. Like other British weapons, the Peabody-Martini-Henry saw action all over the world, and most famously in the Zulu Wars in Africa, but also in India and Afghanistan. Like other British rifles, this one is littered with proof and acceptance markings on the barrel, receiver, and stock. “1887” is marked on the right side of the receiver along with Queen Victoria’s royal cipher and “IV” for Mk IV. The overall condition is very good. Strong blued finish with an arsenal refurbishment during the period of use. Excellent action. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. This example sports a solid stock throughout. A great addition to the collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 33 inches. Caliber: .577/450 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1725 #210711 SOLD Antique: Yes |
