BRITISH ENFIELD 1853 Saddle Ring CAVALRY Carbine Signed by Willie Boitnott
Description: BRITISH ENFIELD 1853 Saddle Ring CAVALRY Carbine Signed by Willie Boitnott Here we present an antique Enfield Pattern 1853 Saddle Ring Cavalry Carbine, made circa 1860. The Enfield 1853 rifle-musket was the second most widely used infantry weapon in the war, surpassed only by the Springfield Model 1861 Rifled Musket. The Confederates imported more Enfields during the course of the war than any other small arm, buying from private contractors and gun runners. It has been estimated that over 900,000 P53 Enfields were imported to America and saw service in every major engagement from the Battle of Shiloh (April, 1862) and the Siege of Vicksburg (May 1863), to the final battles of 1865. The gun was highly sought after in the Confederate ranks. This one is a carbine version with the sling ring bar for retention while riding a horse. The only visible markings are “BP” near the breech as well as “W. BOITNOTT” on the barrel. The previous owner confirmed that this historical carbine was refurbished by Willie Boitnott, a well-known American gunsmith in historical firearms circles, especially for his smithing and creating traditional long rifles. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are bright. The markings are clear. The stock is smooth and solid. The bore is semi-bright and well-rifled. The action is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22-1/4 inches. Caliber: .54 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1450 #8438 SOLD Antique: Yes |
