CIVIL WAR Dated Antique “TOWER” Marked ENFIELD Pattern 1853 Rifle-Musket
BIRMINGHAM Commercial Proofed Smoothbore Dated 1862
Description: CIVIL WAR Dated Antique “TOWER” Marked ENFIELD Pattern 1853 Rifle-Musket BIRMINGHAM Commercial Proofed Smoothbore Dated 1862 Here we present an antique British Tower Marked Civil War dated Pattern 1853 Enfield Percussion Rifle-Musket, made in Birmingham, England in 1862. The P-1853 was Britain’s adopted rifle from 1853 until the Snider system was adopted to transform arms into breech-loaders. In addition to its use around the world with the British military, this was one of the most popular arms for the infantry during the American Civil War. Of all the British arms, the Pattern 1853 is perhaps the best known and regarded weapon that replaced all earlier infantry models in the British Army. The lock is marked “1862/TOWER” at the center, with St. Edward's Crown without the “VR” below at the rear indicating this was a commercial arm, not one accepted by the British government. Many British companies exported rifles for use by both the Confederacy and the Union during the American Civil War. It has a Birmingham commercial proof marked breech and two “25” gauge marks, indicating the original caliber was .577. The overall condition is good. Original dark brown patina. The action does not function more than likely to a broken or missing main spring. Good bore for its age. Markings are legible. The stock is well-used. The middle barrel band is missing. Multiple hand inscriptions are present on the left flat. “1862” dated lock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 37-7/8 inches. Caliber: .63 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #250325 Antique: Yes Price: $1,200.00 Buy Now Pay with ![]() Contact Seller |
