Enfield ~ No. I Mk V "Trials Rifle" ~ .303 British
Description:
An exceptionally rare inter-war period SMLE, the No. 1 Mk V, (aka ShtLE V) was a limited production rifle of about 20,000 units manufactured between 1922-1924 to replace the the WW1-era No. 1 Mk III, but was never officially adopted by the British Army past its "Trials" stage. The rifle would introduce an early version of the peep-aperture sights later seen on the WW2-era No. IV Mk I, and would feature a slightly different bolt and mag-release design. This rifle, serial #5,343 is an early production from late 1922, and has remained in truly exquisite condition with barely any signs of prior use. All parts are matching, while the rifle still boasts its original wood furniture, magazine, and sling. Bore is superbly clean with strong rifling, and barrel bands are tightly fitted. Chambered in .303 British. None
