I have a truly exceptional NO. 5 MK Mark1 ROS (F) .303 "Jungle Carbine" from the Fazkerley Royal Ordinance in Liverpool, England, dated August 1945. It is so clean that I doubt that it was ever issued. This makes sense, given what transpired in August 1945, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, followed by the unconditional surrender of the Empire of Japan.
There would have been no reason to ship it from England to the South Pacific. The wood, finish, fittings, and mechanical functioning are all in close to new condition. There are no alterations, improvements, or import/export markings. You would be hard-pressed to find a nicer, original "Jungle Carbine.
