Lee-Enfield Mk 111, .303
Description: For sale is a Lee-Enfield SMLE--Mk111 bolt-action, magazine-fed rifle manufactured for the British military on consignment by the Birmingham Small Arms Co. in 1915. All of the stamped serial numbers match, "L94966" clearly visible on the rifle in several places, along with numerious military proof marks and inspector's stamps. This early example has the original canvas issued sling strap, with one snag, brass buttstock plate, and two 10-round detachable, empty box magizines (no live ammunition). It has both the sliding ramp rear sights, adjustable for windage, a fixed-post front sight, and also the auxiliary dial long range "volly sight" which is missing the pointer pin. All the stamped insignia are clear and the rifle is in 100% working order, with strong rifling in the barrel, clean lands, but slightly dark grooves. The original blue/black finish is in good condition with an overall even patina sightly greyed in coloration. The wood stock is nearly flawless on the left side but on the right side, some brown wood filler was added to fill in a half-dozen dents. The butt of the stock has the number "2165" stamped into it. There is no brass unit disc affixed, although there is the small indent for one. I am not certain if there ever was a unit disc present or not. This is a British military-issued rifle from WW1 and weighs approximately 8.8 pounds. Buyer to pay an additional $50. fee for shipping. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
