Rare Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1*(T) Sniper Rifle by Savage & Stevens
Description: Serial #14C3646, .303 British, 25" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a splendid 1942-dated, Holland & Holland converted, "S51" marked rifle that has 97-98% of the original blue finish remaining with scope pads, and post-war Birmingham commercial proofs. There is some fading of the blue on a few of the high edges and bearing surfaces, mainly at the muzzle, and on the matching numbered bolt with early-type "button" cocking-piece. The "S (in box)"-marked buttstock, matching numbered forend, and handguards have crisp stamps in the armory re-applied oil finish, and only scattered very minor surface blemishes here and there. An original "S (in box)"-marked magazine is included. This Savage & Stevens rifles was one of several converted to sniper configuration by Holland & Holland, but the vast majority were never issued or matched with scopes. Instead, they went directly into stores, as this one did. This is a terrific example of a rarely seen No. 4 (T) variant, and would make a great addition to any collection.
