Classic and Correct Winchester Model 1917 WWI military rifle, made under Enfield Patent, with nicely cartouched stock and original Winchester-made 1917 bayonet and scabbard.
Description:
Standard configuration Winchester Model 1917 Enfield pattern rifle as used during WWI. The top of the chamber is stamped "U.S./MODEL OF 1917/WINCHESTER/208763". The receiver rail is marked with a Ordnance Bomb. The rear sight leaf is identical to those used on the Enfield Pattern 14 with combination battle and ladder components. The barrel is marked "W/Ordnance Bomb/3-18." All appropriate components have the Winchester "W" identification mark including the bolt handle that is also marked with an Ordnance Bomb. The stock and handguard are oil finished walnut with”543” inspection marks and a smooth trapdoor buttplate. Complete with Winchester manufactured 1917 bayonet marked with US/Ordnance bomb and correct green leather/metal scabbard.
Condition:
VG/+ original condition with sharp edge wear, thinning, and areas of discoloration, particularly around the sight ears and trigger guard/floorplate. Stock with areas of oil discoloration and scattered dings as befitting a service rifle that has seen relatively light use. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. VG bayonet and scabbard.
