1877-79 MAINE Mfg. Antique EVANS NEW MODEL Lever Action .44 “Carbine Model” 1 of 4,000 SCARCE 28-Round Repeater GOLD ENGRAVING
Description: 1877-79 MAINE Mfg. Antique EVANS NEW MODEL Lever Action .44 “Carbine Model” 1 of 4,000 SCARCE 28-Round Repeater GOLD ENGRAVING Here we present an antique Evans New Model “Carbine” Rifle produced circa 1877-1879 by the Evans Repeating Rifle Company of Mechanics Falls, Maine. Frequently referred to as “one of the most novel repeating rifles of the 19th century”. Over the lifespan of the company between 1873 and 1879 there were under 15,000 total rifles made in all models with roughly 4,000 being the New Model “Carbine” rifle. The New Model rifle and carbine, which are not serialized, utilized a revolving type magazine with a full capacity of 28, .44 caliber metallic rounds loaded through the butt of the 30” long round barrel on the rifle and 22” long barrel on the Carbine. The hammer is mounted on the underside of the frame, just ahead of the breech lever and was manually cocked. The frame is rounded at the top and has no cut outs on the side. The forend fits square to the receiver front while the dust cover sits over the loading aperture. The Evans repeating rifle enjoys the distinction of being the only mass produced firearm ever attempted in the state of Maine during the 19th Century. It also holds the greatest capacity of any repeating rifle ever produced and marketed in the United States. The Evans Repeater has gained renewed popularity over the past decade, largely due to its portrayal as a legendary lever-action rifle in Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2. Top results in online searches mostly focus on its role in the game rather than the actual firearm itself. In the game, it’s a coveted weapon that highlights the period-accurate detail and functionality, elevating its status in popular culture as a symbol of the rugged, lawless American frontier, and inspiring admiration among Western and gaming fans. The overall condition is good. This example is refinished. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. Markings are legible. The stock and forend are in good shape with average wear. This example has added gold highlighted arrow engravings ahead of barrel address and forearm checkering. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .44 Evans Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
