UNIQUE Antique EVANS Lever Action Carbine of MAINE
Description: UNIQUE Antique EVANS Lever Action Carbine of MAINE SCARCE 1 of 4000 28-Round .44 Evans Repeater Here we present an antique Evans New Model Carbine in .44 Evans produced by the Evans Repeating Rifle Company of Mechanics Falls, Maine. Frequently referred to as “one of the most novel repeating rifles of the 19th century”, this .44 caliber centerfire carbine was manufactured between 1873 and 1879, with a total of 12,200 Evans rifles and carbines made, 4,000 being carbines. The New Model carbine utilized a unique revolving type magazine with a full capacity of 28, .44 caliber metallic rounds loaded through the butt, which is visible through the center of the buttstock. The hammer is mounted on the front underside of the lever. When the lever is actuated, the dust cover over the ejection port opens to dispel a spent casing, the hammer is cocked, and a new round chambered all at the same time. The Evans repeating rifle enjoys the distinction of being the only mass-produced firearm ever attempted in the state of Maine. It also holds the greatest capacity of any repeating rifle ever produced and marketed in the United States. This is a truly unique design that tried to go head to head with Winchester and ultimately didn’t make it, resulting in a much lower production. As a result, these are downright scarce today and would make a great addition to any lever gun collection! The one-line stamping on the barrel top reads “EVANS REPEATING RIFLE MECHANICS FALLS, ME PAT DEC 8, 1868 & SEPT. 16, 1871 USA”. The overall condition is fine. The blue finish is 95% with vibrant case colors throughout. The markings are clear. The walnut stock is in great shape with the handling marks you would expect. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a beautiful, scarce example of a unique and innovative lever action rifle from the late 1870s! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .44 Evans Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3600 #8615 SOLD Antique: Yes |
