VERY NICE Antique EVANS NEW MODEL Lever Action 28-SHOT .44 Caliber CARBINE
SCARCE, 1 of 4,000 Circa 1870s 28-Round Repeater!
Description: VERY NICE Antique EVANS NEW MODEL Lever Action 28-SHOT .44 Caliber CARBINE SCARCE, 1 of 4,000 Circa 1870s 28-Round Repeater! Here we present an antique Evans New Model Carbine produced circa 1877-1879 by the Evans Repeating Rifle Company of Mechanics Falls, Maine. Frequently referred to as “one of the most novel repeating rifles of the 19th century”. Over the lifespan of the company between 1873 and 1879 there were under 15,000 total rifles made in all models with roughly 4,000 being the New Model “Carbine” rifle. The New Model rifle and carbine, which are not serialized, utilized a revolving type magazine with a full capacity of 28, .44 caliber metallic rounds loaded through the butt of the 30” long round barrel on the rifle and 22” long barrel on the Carbine. The hammer is mounted on the underside of the frame, just ahead of the breech lever and was manually cocked. The Evans repeating rifle enjoys the distinction of being the only mass-produced firearm ever attempted in the state of Maine during the 19th Century. It also held the greatest capacity of any lever-action repeating rifle ever produced and marketed in the United States at the time. The overall condition is fine. Original finish. Very nice blue and case colors. Excellent action. Bright, sharply rifled bore. Solid walnut stock. Barrel address is clear. A desirable alternative to the Winchester that dominated the lever action scene! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 22 inches. Caliber: .44 Evans Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3675 #210275 SOLD Antique: Yes |
