Custom Mahrholdt Peterlongo Innsbruck Rifle in .308 Winchester

Description:
This is an Austrian made, 98 Mauser pattern, custom made, bolt action rifle in .308 Winchester caliber created by the firm of Mahrholdt Peterlongo of Innsbruck, Austria.  The serial number is 23843; it was manufactured in Austria, likely in the 1960s.  The barrel is round in the front which then transitions to octagonal in the rear.  It has a solid rib with wavy line engraving across its entire length.  MAHRHOLDT PETERLONG INNSBRUCK is engraved in the center of the rib. There are no provisions for iron sights. The barrel is 23 inches long.  This gun has deluxe skip line hand checkering, a fancy grade spalded tiger maple Monte Carlo stock with cheekpiece, contrasting fore-end tip, contrasting pistol grip cap, quick detachable sling swivel mounts, and a Pachmayr recoil pad. There are diamond inlays within the stock, likely of ivory and ebony. The barrel, rib, bolt handle, bolt stop, bolt stop cover, bolt sleeve, safety slide, trigger guard and other assorted parts are bright blue.  The receiver, magazine floorplate, scope mounts, scope rings, top tang, and other parts are bright.  Numerous parts of the rifle are oak leaf engraved.  There is a gold inlay elk on the magazine floor plate.  There are three places on the trigger guard where the letter “C” is engraved and gold inlayed.  One of the gold inlays is missing.  The rifle has a screw adjustable double set trigger. The bolt handle ball is checkered. The bolt, extractor, and magazine follower are jeweled.   A Burris 3x-9 power Fullfield scope in matte finish sits in bright, engraved Buehler mounts and rings.
