The SCAR was originally designed as a modular service rifle for the United States Special Operations Command‚s next generation service rifle trials of the same name. The rifle features a robust design meant to survive the harshest of environments while retaining precise and repeatable accuracy and offering out-of-the box modularity for a wide variety of missions and roles. The 17S series is the commercial variant of the military SCAR-H STD (Standard) model and features a carbine-length, 16-inch barrel designed to offer a balance of compactness for confined spaces and ballistic performance for longer range shooting.

New for 2026, the Next Generation (NG) model features FN‚s new hydraulically buffered two-piece bolt carrier designed to offer greatly improved recoil reduction. An extended receiver design paired with a FN‚s new Integrated Rail System offers users a robust mounting interface for all sorts of optics, bipods, grips and other accessories with M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o‚clock positions and a full flat-top Picatinny rail. The NG series also features full aftermarket compatibility with AR-15 pistol grips.

This model is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO and features FN‚s classic FDE color pattern. Included one 20-round magazine along with a foregrip and modular soft carry case.
