Description: c1907 W.W. GREENER .22 LR “KING’S CUP” Rifle C&R Martini Action Target Comp With Both Tang and Tangent Sights; Single Shot Here we present a W.W. Greener “King’s Cup” Martini Action Rifle in .22 Long Rifle, made circa the early-20th Century in Birmingham, England. This rifle was designed to compete in small-bore (miniature rifle) competitions in the early-20th Century in Britain. A rifle in this configuration won the King’s Cup, hence the name. This rifle features a 28-inch barrel in .22 LR and 2 options of target sights. Overall weight is about 9 lbs. Receiver is engraved on either side. This one has a fine hooded front sight, tangent rear sight on the barrel, and a finely adjustable peep on the tang. There are also sling swivels and the rifle does have a takedown feature. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries and a celebrity of the time, is known to have endorsed these rifles in their printed advertisements. The overall condition is fine. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with great rifling. The numbers match. The stock is solid, showing use. This is a substantial and beautiful British target rifle.
