L.S.A. Co. W.W. Greener ~ NRA Martini Rifle ~ .22 Long Rifle
Description:
The W.W. Greener NRA Martini .22 LR is a historic single-shot falling-block rifle. Built by famous British gunmaker W.W. Greener, these rifles were typically conversions of full-bore military Martini-Henry actions adapted into .22 rimfire precision target rifles. They were highly popular in the early 1900s for miniature rifle and cadet shooting clubs. Action: Martini dropping-block (lever-actuated). It features a very fast lock time, making it ideal for precision target shooting. Origin: Many of these rifles began as Enfield-manufactured Martini-Henry actions that were subsequently modified or re-barreled by Greener for the UK's National Rifle Association. Barrels: Greener conversions frequently used the "Parker-rifling" system to relined original barrels, while some higher-end "Olympic" or "Queen's Cup" models were made as heavy-barrel target rifles from the ground up. Markings: Look for stamps reading CONVERTED FOR THE N.R.A. BY W.W. GREENER, .22 LR or .22 L (Long), and standard Birmingham proof marks on the receiver and barrel. Sights: Original conversions usually featured period match sights, such as Greener's Orthoptic rear apertures and target hooded front sights. .22 Long Rifle
