Griffin & Howe sporting rifle, No. 651, chambered in .30/06 Springfield and built on a Mauser bolt action. The 24 3/4" barrel is fitted with a full-length rib engraved “No. 651 GRIFFIN & HOWE, INC. NEW YORK” and carries a sleeved-on sling eye and hooded front ramp with beaded blade front sight. The barrel is additionally marked “.30/06 GOV.” and “POLDI-ANTICORRO” with the trademark female head within an oval, denoting the use of highly regarded Poldi Anticorro steel. The action is fitted with a Griffin & Howe slide-on scope base mounting a Hensoldt-Wetzlar Ziel-Dialyt 2 3/4x scope and is additionally equipped with a Lyman receiver sight. The walnut capped pistol-grip stock measures 14" length of pull including a 1" leather-covered recoil pad and features point-pattern checkering at the pistol grip and forend, a right-hand cheekpiece, ebony forend tip, blank inscription oval, and rear sling swivel.

Condition is very fine overall, retaining strong original blue finish with light handling wear consistent with careful sporting use. The stock exhibits a professionally executed repair behind the bolt area along with minor handling marks, while the checkering remains sharp and well defined. The action is smooth and mechanically excellent, and the bore remains excellent. A particularly attractive Griffin & Howe sporting rifle incorporating desirable period features, premium barrel steel, and classic Griffin & Howe styling.
