Description:
The style of our custom sporting rifles has changed very little since Seymour Griffin and James Howe joined forces to meet the needs of discriminating sportsman. As many sportsmen are often chasing perfection in their equipment, we often see numerous modifications made to our older rifles over the years. For example, this fine sporter, made in 1940 according to its barrel number of 1674, built using a Mauser action has at one point had both a side rail scope mount and a Lyman No48 peep sight installed onto its receiver, but eventually had them removed to return the rifle to using just its integral express sights on the quarter rib. These past modifications are only made evident by the patches found in the stock where they once sat. Aside from the patches, which are merely cosmetic and bear no structural significance, the condition of both the wood and metal is very good, with only light wear. The only part of this rifle which may need maintenance is the buttpad, which has hardened solid, but with the replacement of the pad, this rifle is an excellent choice for any African game.
