"U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1816 cut-down musket Possible Confederate .69 caliber (AL5452)
Description: "NSN, made in 1816, .69 caliber, 28.75"" round smoothbore barrel. Musket has had an early conversion from flintlock to percussion applied. Barrel and other iron parts are a grey patina with scattered areas of surface oxidation visible. Lock plate is marked with Eagle Motif with ""U.S."" on Eagles chest. Rear of hammer is marked ""Harpers/Ferry/1816"". Stock has expected nicks, dings and scratches visible. Handsome cartouche is noted by the side plate. With this type of conversion and the barrel being cut, it is our opinion this musket may have been used by the Confederates during the Civil War. Action does not hold and will need to be fixed.
