Description: CIVIL WAR ERA HARPERS FERRY U.S. MODEL 1841 MISSISSIPPI RIFLE W/ORIG. LONG RANGE SIGHT AND BAYONET LUG DATED 1850. All original, matching and excellent condition Harpers Ferry Model 1841 in the most desirable variation with the Long Range rear sight, the saber bayonet lug with short front band and in original rifled 7 groove .54 caliber. As well as the one closely associated with the Confederate Army with Southern States militias armed with these before the war began. Lock with perfect ‘EAGLE/US” and “HARPERS/FERRY/1850” date stamp. Ordnance inspected “AW/P” and “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” at breech of barrel with “1850” date stamp. Partial inspector’s cartouche on side panel. Mellow brass mounts and the original wood finish.
