Center of plate is engraved "US" eagle "SPRINGFIELD" in arch. Tail is marked "1804" vertically. Lock has likely reconverted using old parts that have a great original look. Walnut stock with handrail comb is mounted with French style iron furniture. Trigger guard has long extensions at front and rear. Buttplate is dated 1804. Sling loops are on stud in front of trigger guard bow and central band. A correctly styled iron ramrod is present. Brass collection tag marked "2M1" is affixed to rear sling loop. Metal parts with overall cleaning to mostly silver with brown and pitted areas. Breech end of barrel shows filing and sanding. Reconversion of lock very well done. Stock with old oil refinish with some subsequent marks is quite sound, except for 1/2" x 1" piece of wood on lock side rear of barrel has been repaired with some chipping at rear.
