Here's an excellent H&R "Centennial Officer's Model" Springfield Trapdoor in .45-70. Ser # The original Officer's Model Trapdoor was produced in quantities of less than 500 by the Springfield arsenal between 1875 and 1885. In the 1970's, the well known American firearm company Harrington & Richardson began reproducing the iconic Springfield "Trapdoor" rifle. The company offered several different variants of the iconic rifle, including an infantry model, a carbine, and an officer's model; which was the most expensive of the companies offerings, as it included premium features like a tang sight, stock checkering, pewter nose cap, and hickory cleaning rod.
This particular example is in very good condition. It features a beautiful walnut stock with no damage other than a few very minor "handling marks" from storage.
The lock and breech block both features beautiful stamps and color case hardening with no real rust or pitting anywhere. The block locks up nice and tight and both the lock and action function perfectly.
The barrel is excellent inside and out with no rust or pitting. The tang sight is excellent with no damage or missing parts.
