Here we present a C&R Harrington & Richardson “Reising” Model 65 Semi-Automatic Training Rifle, chambered in .22 Long Rifle Rimfire, made circa 1945 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Manufactured between 1944 and 1946, the Reising Model 65 semi-auto rifle was designed to emulate the weight and sight picture of the U.S. M1 Garand and was used by the United States Marine Corp as a training weapon. These rifles were chambered in .22 LR and was designed by Eugene Reising during World War II at the request of the U.S. Government. They requested a gun that would be comparable to the M1 Garand. It came equipped with a medium weight barrel that measures 23 inches in length.
