FACTORY ENGRAVED LATE MODEL HENRY RIFLE

Description:
24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 44 RF caliber. Bore has good visible five groove rifling and some scattered pits. Original sights include the later style front blade while the rear sight is missing. Correct later barrel address with the larger-size lettering. Barrel and magazine tube are a plum/brown color. Brass receiver has a nice patina and features beautiful factory engraving from Samuel Hoggson. Typical scroll and floral designs that were done on Henry rifles of the time. Hammer and lever are a gray color with hints of case colors present. Nice functioning action. Lightly refinished American walnut stock is in good condition with just some light handling mars. Also has the later style pointed heel brass buttplate that is also engraved. All steel cleaning rod is not present. Sling swivels are present on the rifle but no visible Henry “Bump”. Not a bad looking example of an engraved Henry rifle that was made in early 1866.
