Henry 44 Rimfire with B Tyler Henry's "H" inspector's mark
Description: This is a 24 inch barreled Henry rifle chambered in 44 RF caliber with a somewhat dark bore that has good visible riflings. The gun is serial number 6377 indicating it was made in 1864. And as picture 5 shows, this gun was personally inspected by B. Tyler Henry himself as evidenced by the "H" on the bottom tang. The receiver is a medium brass color with some minor mars and dings. There are no signs of any real abuse. The stock is of a Henry Perch Belly shape with an obvious slight bow in the belly. The wood is in good condition with a brass rifle style buttplate and a screw in the bottom of the stock exactly 2" from the butt plate. It is located where a more modern sling swivel would be located. There is a split in the stock about 1" from the bottom on either side. There is evidence of the "Henry Bump" in that area of the stock. It also has the typical factory sling swivels on the left hand side of the stock and half way up the barrel. The barrel has been lightly cleaned with steel wool or something and now the barrel is a dull silver. The rear sight is a small buck horn between the serial number and the barrel inscription, not original to the gun. There is no dovetail slot in the brass frame, as is typical on guns after 3200 SN. This is a decent, respectable, Henry Rifle.
