HISTORIC HENRY PRESENTATION RIFLE

Caliber 44RF. Early production serial number 1111. Right side of the receiver is period engraved “Edgar Totten Wisconsin April 8th From Wm. A Warren” For some unknown reason the year has been deliberately taken out. Many privately purchased Henry’s were carried by soldiers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky (which cost them $42. About 3 months soldiers pay) during the Civil War. I found an Edgar Totten who mustered out of the 173rd Regiment in October of 1865. There was a William Warren listed from Bellevue, Iowa. He was the local sheriff and the leader of a posse during the “Bellevue War”. He went on to become an important quartermaster for the Union Army in the Civil War. Not sure of the connection between the two or the reason for the presentation. This rifle is in Good overall condition showing honest wear and color for it’s age. The rear sight is missing the slider. This is a great piece of American History that anyone would be proud to own.
