New Haven Arms, Iron Frame Henry Rifle
Description: New Haven Arms Henry Iron Frame SN-64 Manufactured about 1862 Great wood to metal fit with a lot of wood finish remaining, although it has plenty of handling marks as you would expect for a gun that has been around as long as this one has. The gun has an early metal cleaning rod inside the rifle butt, which would have been a replacement. 24” barrel has sharp readable markings remaining. What little metal finish that is remaining has turned brown. Bore has strong rifling with moderate pitting. There is a crack in the stock coming from the gun cleaning rod hole in the stock, which is not uncommon. Also the lever is not original to the gun and appears to be a 2nd model replacement. This gun has documentation of family ownership going all the way back to a post civil war confederate soldier in Kentucky. There is documentation in the Wiley Sword book, that one of the primary Henry Rifle distributors was in Louisville, Kentucky in the early 1860’s and noted that a large number of those Henrys were sold at a discount shortly after the Civil war started, making it possible that this gun was used by a confederate soldier during the war. Reference “The Historic Henry Rifle” by Wiley Sword. Nice rare collectable Iron Henry rifle. Please contact me for more photos or information if needed. The gun purchase includes a binder (shown on the photo) with documentation of family ownership going back to the post Civil War with a notorized letter. Shipping, insurance, or delivery cost will be added to purchase price. Will only sell and ship to residents of the lower 48 United States. See discounted price below.
