Though the West was tamed and fenced long ago, its spirit lives on with the Henry Big Boy Brass Rifle and Carbine. Don’t let the vintage aesthetics fool you, though; these pistol-caliber lever guns are built to meet the demands of today’s enthusiasts.
Our legendary polished hardened brass receiver provides the foundation for this version of the Big Boy, which lends enough strength to withstand the higher-pressure cartridges it’s designed for. Available in a suite of traditional calibers to match your favorite six-shooter, the choice between .44 Magnum/.44 Spl, .357 Magnum/.38 Spl and .45 Colt is yours. These classic pistol cartridges see considerable performance improvements when fired from the longer barrel of a rifle or carbine, making the Big Boy Brass a versatile tool to protect what’s yours and put meat in the freezer.
And the choices don’t end with the caliber selection – the Big Boy Brass is offered in several different configurations out of the box. The Big Boy Brass Rifle is available with a standard or large loop lever and features a full-length 20” barrel. The Big Boy Brass Carbine comes optioned with a large loop lever and sports a more compact 16.5” barrel. The barrels are made of high-quality steel, cut to an octagon profile as another nod to the rifles that won the West, blued for corrosion resistance, polished, and the rollmarks are filled with gold paint by hand.
Magazine capacity depends on the chosen configuration (ten rounds in the rifle and seven rounds in the carbine). Either way, a side loading gate just below the receiver’s ejection port allows you to keep it topped off without dropping the rifle from your shoulder. The tube magazine is also removable for safe, quick, and convenient unloading.
To get you on target, the Big Boy Brass has a fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with a reversible insert. Because all eyes are different, the insert has a white diamond on one side to help line up the brass bead front sight and nothing on the opposite side if it’s too distracting. If your preferred sight picture involves magnification, the receiver drilled and tapped to accept a scope base.
The straight-grip buttstock and the forearm are crafted from luxurious genuine American walnut and accented with a polished brass barrel band and buttplate to match the receiver. The attention to detail carries through with the smooth action and crisp trigger that distinguishes an authentic, American-made Henry.
