Griffin & Howe .375 Holland & Holland custom made & hand engraved bolt magazine sporting rifle made in 1959 on a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 action, making this one of the most desirable of the pre-64 models. This big game rifle has seen almost no use with virtually no handling marks on the wood and a flawless bore, barrel and action. 22 & 7/8" barrel with British nitro proof marks as a UK import, "Griffin & Howe Inc. New York, NY" barrel engraving, barrel number 2402, ramp-mounted bead foresight, receiver with a detachable WVS L7 adjustable rear sight, and topped with a side-mounted Swarovski Z6i 1-6x24 telescopic sight.
Engraved scope rings, Jeweled bolt, checkered hollow bolt knob, floral engraved recoil blocks, hinged floorplate with push button release, handsome well-figured pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, monte carlo comb, steel pistol grip cap, sling swivels, 13 & 7/8" pull and 1" rubber recoil pad. Floorplate is engraved with bold acanthus scroll work on a matte background, and highlighted with a roundel with a lone English longbowman and the engraver William V. Wild's initials "WVW" beneath the archer, and the trigger guard initiated "CJP." Weight is 9 pounds 2 ounces with iron sights, and 10 pounds 7 ounces with the scope mounted.
