Holland & Holland .375 Bore Flanged Express - A VERY SPECIAL ONE!
Description: A fine Holland & Holland Double Rifle that is "right as rain". Looking at a 1904 catalog we see the following: "With its charges of Cordite Powder and a 270 grains bullet, an average muzzle velocity of over 2,000 feet per second is obtained." "For those sportsmen requiring a still more powerful weapon, we make the .375 No. 2, which fires a .320 grain bullet, and having a striking energyof 3,426 ft.lbs. This rifle requires to be somewhat heavier than the No. 1 rifle." This rifle weighs 9 1/2 lbs. The horn butt plate has no bugs, worms or cracks. I sent this rifle to Ken Owen for a general clean-up 2 1/2 years ago. He called me to tell me this was the cleanest rifle inside and out of this type that he had ever seen. He included a test target for 275 gr at a standing position at 80 yards obtaining a 1 1/2" group. Target included. (If you are wondering why he didn't shoot the 320 gr the order had not yet been received. See barrel flats for 320 gr.....one of less than a handful made) Please notice the case which is brown leather, oil stained.I cannot tell you that all of the accessories are original to the gun because I was born approximately 50 years later than this rifle was produced. In looking at the case opened position you will see that the pewter oil bottle was raised to better view Holland & Holland's name on the pewter bottle. And so it goes; cleaninng rod........
