Antique I. HOLLIS & SONS British .60 Percussion NW INDIAN TRADE Ball Gun
London Made Longarm from the mid-19th Century
Description: Antique I. HOLLIS & SONS British .60 Percussion NW INDIAN TRADE Ball Gun London Made Longarm from the mid-19th Century Here we present an antique I. Hollis & Sons Percussion Ball Gun made circa 1862 in London, England. Isaac Hollis & Sons started out in the early part of the 19th century with the name of “Hollis Brothers”. It continued under that trade name until 1845 when it was re-named “Hollis Brothers & Co. which continued until 1848, when it became “Hollis & Sheath” after Isaac took on Isaac Brentnall Sheath as a partner. This continued until 1861 when the firm changed its name to I. Hollis & Sons on the departure of Sheath. Hollis & Sons became known as a supplier of pistols and shotguns, and also produced muskets, such as this example, that was possibly used for the North American Indian trade. From hunting buffalo to battles between European Americans and Native Americans, this rifle was built to be a rugged, powerful long arm through the tumultuous 19th century. Aside from being used as a great target rifle, it would have also been used to put food on the table or defend the homestead against unwanted intruders with its massive .60 caliber bore. The overall condition is good. Dark, original patina. The stock is solid showing grain splits at the buttplate. Legible markings. The action is robust. The bore is dark but good for its age. The stock has been sanded. Absent front sight. Absent section ahead of the bolster. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 28 ½ inches. Caliber: .60 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1250 #256024 SOLD Antique: Yes |
