J C Higgins model 51-L 30-06

Description:
The model 51-L is based off of the Husqvarna model 1640 with a 22" barrel and an American style stock, which is to say it is a sweet rig indeed.  The bluing and metal work are in remarkably good condition with only a small amount of wear at the muzzle.  The stock has 'carry and hunting' dings and scratches but nothing too drastic.  The recoil pad addition looks like it was done the afternoon before the 'big trip to Montana' as it seems a little shabby to my eyes but could be cleaned up with a little effort.  Never bothered me but the work is  under par.  It's hard to know the exact vintage but I would say 1960 give or take a few years.  The 30-06 is still the standard by which most every other high powered cartridge is judge and it can still hold its' own against any of them.  Few rounds have the versatility of the '06' with loads available from 110 gr.
