Offered here for sale and just acquired from a very fine arms collection is a classic early post WWII fine Swedish .30-06 sporting rifle. tell me about a fine conditioned Swedish Husqvarna early post WWII sporting rifle. Serial number 115173 it has a 25" barrel. Fine checkering on pistol grip and forearm. It retains just about all finish and save for some dried oil in spots which we will clean before shipping it is in 98-99% condition. Nice hooded front sight. Fine shooting .30-06 rifle with ammunition a plenty available.
Based on the serial number 115173 this rifle is very likely a postwar Husqvarna Model 640 sporting rifle built on the commercialized Mauser 98 action. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, it was one of Husqvarna's most popular export calibers after WWII. With a 25-inch barrel it is typical of many early Husqvarna sporting rifles. A hooded front sight, a common Husqvarna feature. Fine factory checkering on the pistol grip and fore-end. High-polish blued finish and walnut stock typical of the better-grade 640 sporting rifles.
Collectors generally place serial numbers in the 115,000 range in the late 1940s, roughly 1947–1949. The Model 640 series was introduced shortly after WWII and became Husqvarna's principal sporting rifle during that period. Given serial number 115173, estimated manufacture is approximately 1948.
The wood is in excellent condition. The bore as well and only slight wear at the muzzle. Known for their excellent actions Swedish rifles such as this are excellent sporters and collectible as well.
