Purchased this in an unfired/as new condition from Wes Trollope of Omaha in June 2000. He was selling it for the widow of a friend of his.
My brother and I own several of Frank Well's masterpieces (7mm Rem; 450 Ackley; two .375's; .338 Win). All are beautifl works of art. Before his passing, I sat in Mr. Wells' kitchen in Tucson and talked about this particular gun. He remembered it well.
I shot a moose in Alaska with this gun with 275 gr Barnes X. Its quite the hammer. I have probably fired 100 rounds. Its a total joy to shoot, unfortunately, I doubt I will ever go to Africa, so I have decided to sell it.
Magnum Mauser Action. Jeweled bolt. Jeweled floor plate. Silky smooth action. Sights are by New England Custom Gun. Its been a while, but if I recall, the slghts are regulated for 300 grain solids at 50 yards. Talley bases included. Barrel band. Model 70 3-position safety.
